李元元，1958年生，中国工程院院士。曾任华南理工大学校长、吉林大学校长、华中科技大学校长、华中科技大学党委书记。中国材料研究学会第八届理事会理事长，中国科协第十届全国委员会常务委员会委员，中国高等教育学会副会长。长期从事粉末冶金、材料加工工程和机械工程领域的教学、科研工作。在高性能粉末冶金材料和有色合金材料的制备成形理论与技术研究、材料-工艺-装备-产品一体化研究等方面，进行了系统深入的研究，取得系列突出成果。发表学术论文200余篇，获国家科技进步二等奖2项、省部级科技一等奖4项。
Prof. Yuanyuan Li, was born in 1958, is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He used to be the President of South China University of Technology, President of Jilin University, President of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and the Secretary of the CPC Huazhong University of Science and Technology, the chairman of the 8th Council of the Chinese Materials Research Society, the member of the Standing Committee of the 10th National Committee of the China Association for Science and Technology, and the vice president of the China Association of Higher Education. He has always engaged in teaching and research in the fields of powder metallurgy, material processing and mechanical engineering. Especially in the fields of high-performance powder metallurgy and non-ferrous alloy materials, he has carried out systematical and thorough investigation on the basic theory and technique of fabrication, forming, material-process-equipment-product integration etc., and obtained a series of outstanding achievements. Furthermore, he has published more than 200 academic papers, and won two second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and four first prizes of Provincial/Ministerial Science and Technology Awards.
